Event formats explained

We produce events in a number of different formats to suit different learning needs.

Conferences

Our conferences are generally one, two and sometimes three-day events.  Usually they focus on a specific topic of relevance to an industry.  Often these topics are driven by changes in legislation, shifts in market forces or social/political changes.  The topic is presented and discussed in-depth by leading exponents or recognised experts in the field of that topic.  Each conference is led by a respected chairperson who introduces the issues of concern at the beginning of the event and then summarises the key learning and discussion points throughout the event.  There will usually be around 5 or 6 speakers per day – though this is by no means set in stone.

Conferences are ideal learning events for those seeking thought-leadership and direction on controversial or complex topics, and often appeal to senior professionals within practices and the in-house environment.  The exchange of ideas, networking and the development of new positions within an industry are crucial outputs from these events.

All of our legal and taxation conferences are CPD accredited.  The number of CPD points per an event varies depending on the length of the event.

Breakfast briefings

These events take place over a couple of hours first thing in the morning.  They are intensive investigations into a very specific topic, usually presented by one or two key speakers.  These are often focussed on giving you the “need to know” summary on a topic or perhaps the latest government or regulatory body position on a rapidly developing subject.  Most breakfast briefings are planned at short notice, are a reaction to an unexpected change or development in legislation, case law etc, and will give you an up-to-the-minute understanding of a topic.

Breakfast briefings are ideal for those professionals needing to offer clients the latest position in a rapidly changing market.

Training Courses

Our training courses are usually one-day events covering a specific topic.  The majority of courses have just one tutor, an expert in the field, who will train the attendees on the details of a subject.  The attendee numbers are limited (usually to around 10 delegates per event) to ensure each delegate receives the appropriate assistance and tuition in the subject.

Training courses are CPD accredited.

Workshops

Workshops usually take place alongside a conference and cover a related topic in some detail.  Often they are half or full-day events. In some cases attendance at the workshop is only allowed in conjunction with attendance at the associated conference, though in many cases it is possible to attend the workshop only.  Generally there are discounts available for purchasing workshop and conference places together.

Webinars

Webinars consist of a one-hour audio visual broadcast by leading experts covering a specific topic which can either be viewed live (they are all broadcast between 12.30-13.30 PM) on a specific date or reviewed 'on-demand', whenever it is most convenient. They are delivered over the internet and require no special equipment to view (other than a standard PC/laptop and an internet connection), so you can participate from your desk, or even from your home.

When viewed live they are genuinely interactive events, as you can email your questions to the speakers, all experts in their areas, while the broadcast is taking place.  Speakers will endeavour to answer all questions sent in by the live audience during the live debate.

All the supporting material, which includes case law from LexisLibrary, can be downloaded and an online CPD assessment taken.  Each webinar is worth two CPD points provided the online assessment is passed.
