Public Sector Equality Duty

Part of the Local Government Webinars stream

Introduction

The public sector Equality Duty aims to prevent discrimination and advance equality by ensuring that people of different backgrounds are duly considered before a public decision is made.  As previously envisaged, its application has been overly bureaucratic and often led to largely disproportionate results. However, the Equality Act 2010 has dramatically altered this, allowing for more appropriate and dynamic decisions to be taken.

This fully interactive webinar will explore the rudiments of the duty before analysing its intricacies and nuances, discussing these against a backdrop of the most relevant statute and case law.
