Introduction

In the Test Achats decision the European Court of Justice ruled that insurers cannot charge different premiums or give different benefits to men and women because of their gender. This decision is based on the need to adhere to the wider principle of gender equality. The judgment applies to contracts entered into after 21st December 2012.
