Introduction
This timely half-day seminar will provide you with authoritative guidance on important recent developments in equal pay law, looking in particular, at the practical implications of key judgments over the past year. According to the latest statistics, there were 34,600 equal pay claims accepted by employment tribunals from 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011. Key decisions around the civil courts’ jurisdiction to hear equal pay claims, as well as continuing case law developments around genuine material factor defences and objective justification will be discussed at this seminar, alongside a special focus session on leading Scottish cases and lessons to be learned in terms of litigation practice. Challenges related to job evaluation schemes and equal pay will also be addressed.
