New Strand Discrimination

The latest law and policy developments concerning discrimination on grounds of religion or belief, sexual orientation and age

Introduction

Discrimination claims on grounds of age, sexual orientation, or religion or belief are rapidly growing. Now is the time for prudent employers, and those who advise them, to make sure that they are up-to-date with the latest case law and legislative developments, and to ensure that equality and diversity policies fully reflect the special challenges posed by the three newest strands.
For each of the three new strands, there have been well-publicised cases over the past 12 months, and some important cases are currently pending before the tribunals and courts. These will increase as the Equality and Human Rights Commission implements its strategy of intervening in key new strand cases. Read more >>
