Anti-Corruption and Bribery
Why you cannot afford to miss this conference
The appointment of Ken Clarke as the UK’s anti-corruption champion highlights the Government’s avowed commitment to tackling economic crime. The introduction of the Bribery Act imposes onerous obligations on companies to demonstrate that they have "adequate procedures" in place to escape liability. But what constitutes "adequate procedures" and for whose conduct can you be found liable?
Butterworth’ prestigious annual conference has been comprehensively updated to reflect the rapid developments in this fast moving landscape. We are delighted to announce that the Ministry of Justice will be joining the speaker panel and will be on hand to clear up any uncertainty or ambiguity surrounding the steps companies need to take to ensure compliance with the Act. Of course, bribery and corruption often arises in a multi-jurisdictional context. Much has been said about the extra-territorial reach of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and you will have an opportunity to debate the issue with William Stuckwisch from the US Department of Justice.
