Sport and the Law

Sport will always have a place in the heart of the public. However, this year, its dark side has reared its ugly head in incidents such as the Harlequins fake blood injury scam and the Renault planned crash. The issue of drugs in sport is, unfortunately, ever topical and we will be examining in detail the new UK Anti-Doping agency which is due to be up and running by 2010.

On a more positive note, the UK is on the cusp of a golden decade with bids being made to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the 2015 Rugby World Cup and the 21st FIFA World Cup in 2018. More imminently are the Olympics Games 2012 in London and we will be hearing direct from various members of LOCOG about how preparations are proceeding.

The conference is once again chaired by Jonathan Taylor of Bird & Bird and features a top level mix of industry and regulatory speakers. It will offer you the opportunity to gain a full update across the board on all the latest developments in practice and procedure in only one day out of the office. Sessions will be focused, topical and entertaining and our panel of leading experts will be on hand to offer the very best in practical take-home advice. Debate is actively encouraged to enable you to swap information with your peers and gain from others experiences. Join them to discover the latest on the following hot topics:

  • Cheating in sport
  • The effect of the recession
  • UK Anti-Doping
  • Bidding for events
  • Gambling in sport
  • Listing of events
  • Preparation for the 2012 Games
