Tax Planning For Trustees: Jersey

A thorough examination of the latest developments in recent cases including Gaines Cooper and an experienced panel of speakers will discuss remittance techniques, relevant income and HMRC actions on offshore issues

Introduction

This conference will focus on UK domiciliaries and on non domiciliaries. It will be updated to reflect the relevant changes announced in the emergency budget.

The fiscal and regulatory environment in which offshore trusts operate is increasingly challenging. In recent years the UK rules directed at offshore trusts have become more opaque and yet planning opportunities remain. These rules are important to many Jersey Trusts. Often this is because the settlor was or is resident in the UK but increasingly it is UK beneficiaries which are the principal concern.

It is well recognised that the UK rules are extremely complicated and that tax compliance is now international. Trustees and other fiduciaries have to understand UK tax and be aware of the planning opportunities and pitfalls.
